Wanted: The Yankee Typewriter
Very few typewriters were more basic (and cheaper) than the Yankee. The inventor of this toy-like writing machines was Robert Hawley Ingersoll. The Yankee was actually a name variant of The Dollar typewriter and, like the latter typewriter's name suggests, they both cost just $1. The Yankee typewriter was most likely produce alongside the Dollar by R.R. Ingersoll & Company.
