Wanted: The Yankee Typewriter
Very few typewriters were as basic or as cheap as the Yankee. To be fair, the Yankee was actually the successor to the Dollar of 1891. Like the Dollar's name suggests, it and the Yankee cost just $1. I assume that the Yankee was produced by R.R. Ingersoll & Company just like its predecessor.
See an interesting ad here from 1898 that pictures the Yankee but references it as the American Toy Typewriter. The Dollar was also sold under the "American" name.
What's even cheaper than the Yankee? How about the Eagle...
