With this No.4 Crandall typewriter, gone is the mother-of-pearl inlay that made its predecessor, the Crandal New Model, so attractive. The general form was still the same, though. According to literature, the No.4 Crandall was nothing more than a remodeled New Model. The company may have had old tooling that it wanted to use up, or maybe this was an honest effort in the progression of its brand. We may only speculate.
