Wanted: Odell Typewriter
The original design of the short-lived "Seal Foot" Odell was quickly replaced with the round-base versions seen here. It was a much more stable design which survived virtually unchanged between several models before having been redesigned once more to a square-base version under a new name, the New American No.5. Odells were originally produced in Lake Geneva, WI, then in Chicago, IL and finally in Momence, IL. The name of the company also changed between 1889 - 1906 from the Odell Type Writer Co., to the Odell-Young Typewriter Co. and finally the American Co.
