This "O'dell's Type Writer" is a true Odell No.1 model. Unlike later models which were constructed with round bases, these No.1s had a straight base that spanned the length of the carriage. Furthermore, each end of the base was accented by a pair of seal's feet which is why the model aptly referred to as the "Seal Foot Odell.". These Odell typewriters were produced briefly ca.1889 by the Odell Type Writer Company of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
