The frame of this Blick No.8 was cast from aluminum, only by special order and if the buyer was willing to pay for the premium. Standard No.8s were cast from iron. Aluminum shaved a few pounds off the overall weight because it is a lighter material. Blickensderfer was among the first to use this material on typewriter frames. Other than for being cast of aluminum, this No.8 it is exactly the same as the No.8 cast of iron here...
