The Salter No.5 Typewriter
In 1892, The Salter No.5 was the first typewriter to be made in England for commercial sale. It featured a beautiful curved keyboard and Victorian inspired embellishments. It also had a downstrike typebar arrangement. Later versions of this model, like the one on this page, were labeled "Improved" No.5. No.5's were also rebranded as the La Rapide, Salter-Perfect, Royal-Express and the Birch.
