The Franklin No.1 typewriter, a.k.a The Franklin Type I, is very easily identifiable by its insignia. Across its front shield it has its name, "THE FRANKLIN," in all capital letters, within a scroll. It should also have a nickel plated paper table but later models also have his feature. The Franklin was invented by Wellington Parker Kidder and produced in 1891 by the Tilton Manufacturing Company of Boston, Massachusetts.
