The Defi Typewriter

Wanted: The Defi Typewriter

The Defi typewriter was successor to the Secretary and Eagle typewriters and the predecessor to the Sterling. Ads indicate that The Defi was sold by the Household Sewing Machine Company of New York and produced at the company's Rhode Island factory. Like the Secretary, The Defi was a failure. Oddly, the Defi was marked with the words "Breveté S.G.D.G." on its top plate, which is something I would expect of typewriters meant for French markets. (machine à écrire The Defi)
