Franklin Remington and Zalmon G. Sholes were a pair of fortunate sons benefiting from their fathers' names. The Remington & Sholes names were synonymous within the typewriter industry so when Franklin and Zalmon started the Remington-Sholes Company of Chicago, Il, it seemed like a natural fit. The original Remington Typewriter Company, however, thought otherwise, sued and forced Rem-Sholes to change its name to Fay-Sholes. Remington-Sholes, Rem-Sholes, Rem-Sho, Fay-Sholes and Fay-Sho are all ultimately the same company. I'm most interested in a bronze clad model like the one on this page.
