American No.2 index typewriter. Produced ca.1895 in New York, NY by the American Typewriter Co.
The cosmetic condition is very good. The paint is really well preserved. The decals have worn in several areas. The legend, despite its condition, is still in excellent and complete condition unlike on most examples. There is no real rust to mention but the nickel plating in some areas has dulled. No significant dust, either. The rubber type is only partially present (it's frequently completely gone). The typewriter already looks good enough to display.
Functionally, the typewriter works at its most basic, meaning that the carriage and returns well. The character selector swings as it should as does the type holder.
An original case is included which appears to have been repainted.
The instruction manual and salesman's instructor are high-quality modern reproductions.
