ONE OF A KIND SET! Radio School (Signal Corp) Corona Standard typewriter with Civil Defense insignia, Civil Defense Auxiliary Firemen Helmet and Civil Defense Air Warden Armband. The set was purchased together and is being offered as such.
The Corona Standard typewriter is serial numbered 3C307266 which dates it to 1944. Corona was the only US manufacturer allowed to produce typewriter during WWII. The MIL (all-CAPS) typeface was standard issue for Radio School. The typewriter has a Civil Defense Decal on the right side.
Cosmetic condition of the typewriter is excellent! The paint is strong with just a few tiny imperfections and faint streak on the left side. Strong are nearly perfect. Minimal dust and the most minimal surface rust. The nickel plating also excellent. Lovely keyboard. Basically, cosmetically, it needs to be cleaned but, WOW, it already displays beautifully!
Functionally, the typewriter works well. Carriage advances and returns well. Paper feed is excellent. The keyboard needs to be struck a little harder than normal so an adjustment would help but it isn't necessary. Overall, ready to write.
An original, functional case is included. Like the typewriter it has a Civil Defense decal and also a "Radio School" stencil.
The helmet has a 1940's Civil Defense Auxiliary Firemen Decal. The paint is excellent, excellent, excellent with just few tiny chips and scuffs. Original strap still present. The name "Dondero" and "308" are written on the leather.
The armband has the Air Warden logo. It is also in excellent condition.
