Wanted: Ne Plus Ultra Sewing Machine
The Ne Plus Ultra sewing machine was patented on March 30, 1858. Patentee and manufacturer was the O.L. Reynolds Company of Dover, New Hampshire. It was embellished with mother of pearl inlaid flowers and gold pinstripes on japanned metal. Both hand operated and treadle versions of the Ne Plus Ultra were produced. The treadle stand had two flywheels and two pitman rods powered by an extra large foot pedal.
