The Morris typewriter was invented by Robert E. Morris of Wichita, Kansas. It was produced first by J.B. Morris & Bros. in Wichita before the Hoggson & Pettis Manufacturing Company of New Haven, Connecticut took over. Hoggson & Pettis produced mostly large industrial machinery but, on occasion it made smaller items, too. Such smaller items included The Automatic Safety Check Punch and this Morris typewriter.
