Of the two versions of the McLoughlin Brothers typewriters produced, the one pictured here is the 2nd. Both versions were originally sold as toys but the McLoughlin brothers also had hopes of selling their typewriters to cost-conscious businessmen as practical writing devices. These typewriters were produced in New York by McLoughlin Bros. Inc. and marketed as the "McLoughlin Bro's Ten Dollar Typewriter."
