Though it may appear to be a predecessor to the Sholes Visible, this Sholes typewriter was actually more like a successor.  It was introduced in 1911 by Louis Sholes over a decade after the Visible. The C. Latham Sholes Typewriter Manufacturing Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin was to produce it. Note the placement of the ribbon spools directly under the exposed typebars. These characteristics differentiate the to models the most.
