Lightning Check Protector

The Lightning check protector was produced ca.1889 by the Lightning Check Punch Company of Bridgeport, CT. A later version was produced in Marlboro, MA.

 

Unlike most other check protectors, the Lighting's paper table swung in a crescent fashion to position the check under the desired character. Almost all other protectors had stationery paper tables so the actual characters had to be moved to the printing point.
