The Schreibmaschine Kneist (Kneist Typewriter) was produced in Hanover, Germany, ca.1893, by Wunder & Kneist. It was invented by Otto Kneist who was awarded German patent (D.R.P) nos.78,296, 90,952 and 97,604 for it. The Kneist was the predecessor to the Graphic typewriter. Both were index typewriters that functioned similarly to the American-made Hall.
