The Schreibmaschine Kneist (Kneist Typewriter) was produced in Hanover, Germany, ca.1893, by Wunder & Kneist. It was invented by Otto Kneist who was awarded for it German patent (D.R.P) nos.78,296, 90,952 and 97,604. The Kneist was the predecessor to the Graphic typewriter. Both were index typewriters that functioned similarly to the American-made Hall.
