Imperial Typewriter

This machine is one of at least four named Imperial that were produced throughout typewriter history. It was invented by Herbert Conrad Hess and produced first ca.1907 by the Visible Typewriter Manufacturing Company of Kenosha, Wisconsin. After that company failed the Imperial began to be be produced by the Burnett Typewriter Company of Chicago, IL. This Imperial features an oblique, forntstrike typebar arrangement with a traditional four-row keyboard.
