The Hancock Sewing Machine Company of Boston, Massachusetts produced several versions of its hand-operated, chain stitch sewing machine. They were invented by Henry J. Hancock of New York, New York. The Hancock sewing machine on this page (a poor example) has a patent date of August 6, 1867 on it.
