The Garbell Portable Typewriter was first advertised ca.1919. It was patented during the previous year by inventor Max Garbell. The typewriter was produced by the Garbell Typewriter Company, Inc, also known as the Gar-Bell Typewriter Corporation, both of Chicago, Illinois. Only the No.3 models are known to have survived though there are advertisements which suggest the production of a No.1. No evidence of a No.2 model ever being produced has presented itself.
