The Diskret typewriter doubled as a manual cipher machine capable of typing in code. Richard Beger of Dresden was its inventor. Diskret typewriters were produced first ca.1898 by Dr. Friedrich Rehmann in Karlsruhe, Germany, then Berlin and then in Leipzig. Lastly the typewriters were produced by the of firm of Giernat & Schröter. The Diskret was the successor to the Volksschreibmaschine.
