Kazanjian Hair Dryer
What resembles a personal, handheld fan is actually a portable hair dryer that was invented by Armenian-American Gabriel Kazanjian and patented on June 6, 1911. The fan's brass blades worked by repeatedly squeezing the two wooden handles. The air would then pass through an electrified funnel to dry one's hair. The funnel is missing on the example on this page.
