Commercial Visible Typewriter
The Commercial Visible typewriter was developed by Richard Uhlig, ca.1898. The two most common models are Nos.5 & 6 which were produced by the Commercial Visible Typewriter Company of New York. The typewriters utilize a typewheel for print delivery which is actuated by a double-shift three-row keyboard. They also feature a seductive, thin-waisted form which makes them desirable today. The Commercial Visible was also available with a white or reddish/maroon finish as opposed to the standard black. Another known variant of the No.6 model was named the Commercial Visible 'A'. Lastly, the Fountain Typewriter was the predecessor to the Commercial Visible.
