This Boldgett & Lerow Sewing Machine was named for its patentees, Sherburne C. Blodgett and John A. Lerow, whom were awarded their patent on October 2, 1849. It was produced by several manufacturers including A. Bartholf of New York, Goddard, Rice & Co. of Worcester, Massachusetts and Orson C. Phelps on Harvard Place of Boston. The Blodgett & Lerow was termed as a Rotary Sewing Machine by its inventors.
