The Blickensderfer No.4 typewriter was produced after the No.5 model, not prior. In fact, the No.4 is really just a modified No.5 model that types in uppercase exclusively. Such typewriters were referred to as telegraphic or "Mill" typewriters. Because it is also possible to find No.5s with similar 2-row typewheels, only examples labeled with the "No.4" designation can be acknowledged as legitimate No.4s. They were produced by the Blickensderfer Typewriter Company of Stamford, Connecticut.
