The Barber sewing machine was invented by its namesake, Adin Mayo Barber, who patented it on October 21, 1884.​ It is a handheld sewing that was produced by the American Hand Sewing Machine Company (Am.H.S.M.Co.) of New York. Adin was a resident of Bridgeport, CT so, as a fellow resident, I'm especially particular to this machine.
