The American Magnetic was produced ca.1853 - 1854 by the American Magnetic Sewing Machine Company of Ithaca, New York. Its patentees were Thomas C. Thompson, Samuel J. Parker or Simon Coon. Some examples of the American Magnetic may be marked with Howe after Elias Howe​ brought up patent infringements  issued to him in 1846.
